The Washington Blues Society’s annual Best of the Blues Awards (“BB Awards”) returns on Sunday, July 26th to honor musicians, artists, events, and venues nominated by blues society members in 32 award categories. The 2020 BB Awards show will be the first ever online virtual presentation of awards due to the global Covid 19 Pandemic and the closure of live performance venues.
The broadcast will features pre recorded performances by select nominees and an All-Star cast of video presenters from around the country.
The Washington Blues Society had a show scheduled for late April but were forced to postpone due to the emergency closures. The group is following the blueprint created by the Blues Foundation in Memphis who presented the virtual Blues Music Awards in May, who graciously lent the Seattle based affiliate guidance and resources including a memorial presentation video.
The nominees once again represent the absolute best Blues performers from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The field represents the work of several successful fan campaigns, high visibility acts, new sensations and long-established favorites who all deserve recognition for their steadfast determination and accomplishments.
Video performances include multi award winners Brian Lee and the Orbiters, The Stacy Jones Band, CD Woodbury, MaD BoJo, Nick Vigarino and Blues performer of the year nominee Lady A.
New to the awards are the groups Stephanie Anne Johnson and the Hidogs, Slide Pocket, High Note Group the Billy Joe Show with Rod Cook, and Blues Moon Marquee from British Columbia. Mixed in are solo spots from Miranda Kitchapnich, Brian Butler, Sheri Roberts Greimes, and Rod Cook . All of the bands have multiple award nominees in their ranks.
