More about the High Note Group :
Whether paying tribute to the Blues masters or playing original songs, this band has its own sound. They are all passionate about music and draw inspiration from everywhere, across genres, and their music has flavors of traditional blues, funky blues rock, west coast swing, rockabilly and more. Covid Era has brought about strange new set of conditions never before seen by our generation. With social distancing and restrictions on live performances, the intrepid artist has had to forge a new path. This has been a blessing of sorts for this band of tireless working musicians. Once known for playing 3-5 nights per week with various bands, they have now all found themselves available to focus their efforts on developing the High Note Group‘s signature aesthetic. They are working on new original music, video concepts with the help of photographer and videographer Jesse James and advancing their studio production to develop as a band and create new streaming content to stay in touch with their fans.
High Note Group are the recipients of Washington Blues Society’s 2020 Best New Band award. High Note Group is fronted by Joel Astley, winner of several Washington Blues Society “Best of the Blues” awards including 2019 Best Male Vocalist, 2020 for Best songwriter, and winner of the Best Blues Harmonica award three years running. He has collected several other nominations from the Washington Blues Society over the past three years and has risen quickly to local favorite. Rafael Tranquilino is known for his work with The Rafael Tranquilino Band, and his versatility as a guitar virtuoso shines in the High Note Group. Rafael comes from a musical family and has been playing music since he was ten years old. Before launching his own band, he worked for several years as a musician and musical director for the Randy Oxford Band. Since then he has been globetrotting and pleasing enormous crowds on some of the most esteemed stages on the continent. Most recently on a tour through Mexico with his band, he attracted national attention for his scorching guitar work and energizing stage presence. Lissa Ramaglia is a long-time northwest favorite bassist who in 2019 was inducted this year into the Washington Blues Society’s “Blues Hall of Fame”. Add this to her already impressive list of accolades; she has played with many of the regions favorite acts including the hard-rockin’ Michelle Taylor Band, Patti Allen & Monster Road, and harmonica legend Lee Oskar. Chris Lucier is an enormously talented and versatile drummer who has been playing percussion for over 25 years. Chris has toured with bands/performance organizations all over the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe, and has recorded with dozens of projects. Chris moved from Phoenix to Seattle in 2011, where he has continued performing and recording as a session musician. Besides the High Note Group, he is currently a member of Fat Bottomed Band, Blake Noble Band, Good Quiver, Designer Disguise, and Enterra, and otherwise stays quite busy as a session musician.
